Strong Northeast monsoon upwelling observed at northern Malacca Straits (see chlorophyll a image- top). The high chlorophyll a water extended from Malacca Straits until Andaman Sea. The distribution pattern is much difference from previous monsoon upwelling where the high chlorophyll a water will extended toward northwest direction. Strong nLw 551 absorption at the high chlorophyll a waters.
Borneo Images! 23 December 2007
Northern Borneo MODIS Aqua images on 23 Dec 2007. Large phytoplankton bloom off the west of Baram River plume. Strong nLw 551 absorption off the Miri turbid coastal water. Slightly blackish color can be observed over the strong nLw 551 area that can be clearly differentiate from the brownish Baram River plume.
Malacca Straits! 22 Dec 2007
Strong upwelling occuring at northern Malacca Straits. The area of high chlorophyll a also exhibit the charateristic of strong nLw 551 (green spectrum) absorption. The off shore waters show greenish color due to large phytoplankton bloom (in RGB image).
